The New Testament – Apocalyptic Books

Preacher:
Series: ,
Passage: Daniel 7, Matthew 24
Service Type:

This service explores the Bible’s apocalyptic writings and the remarkable consistency of their prophetic visions across the Old and New Testaments. Drawing from Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Zechariah and Revelation, we examine the symbolic beasts, living creatures, olive trees and candlesticks, and consider what these visions reveal about the time of the end, God’s judgment, the reign of Jesus Christ and mankind’s redemption from physical death. Daniel’s vision of successive earthly kingdoms ultimately gives way to the everlasting kingdom of the Son of Man, while Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 24 reminds us to remain faithful and discerning as we await His return. Though apocalyptic imagery may appear mysterious or confronting, its central message is one of hope: earthly powers will pass away, God’s purposes will be fulfilled, the faithful will inherit His kingdom, and Jesus Christ will reign for ever.
