Acts Chapter 5 – Holiness and Witness

This Bible study explores Acts Chapter 5, highlighting the importance of honesty, holiness and obedience to God. The account of Ananias and Sapphira provides a solemn warning against hypocrisy and seeking recognition from others rather than pleasing God. We then follow the apostles as they boldly continue preaching Jesus Christ despite imprisonment, persecution and opposition from the Jewish religious leaders. Their declaration, “We ought to obey God rather than men,” demonstrates their unwavering faith and commitment. The study also examines the Pharisees, Sadducees and Sanhedrin, providing insight into the religious authorities of the time, and considers the wise counsel of Gamaliel. Throughout, we are reminded that God’s work cannot be overthrown and that true faith is demonstrated through sincerity, courage and obedience.
