Rebuilding the Temple

Preacher:
Passage: Jeremiah 31:33
Service Type:

This week’s message, “Rebuilding the Temple – Nehemiah and Ezra,” continues our Autumn series on Renewal: Responding to Failure, exploring how God’s people moved from repentance to restoration after the Babylonian exile. Beginning with Daniel’s prayer of confession for Israel’s sins, the message traces the stages of renewal that followed: the rebuilding of the temple under Zerubbabel encouraged by the prophet Haggai, the restoration of God’s law through Ezra, and the rebuilding of Jerusalem’s walls under Nehemiah. These events show how true renewal begins with recognising failure, turning back to God, and rebuilding both outward structures and inward faith. The lesson also draws a personal application: just as Jerusalem needed its temple, law, and walls restored, we too are called to rebuild our spiritual lives—allowing God’s kingdom to be established within us as His law is written on our hearts.
