We are now finishing up our time in Thailand with only a few days to go. Although we are looking forward to heading home we will be sad to leave the school and the kids here.
Following on from our last blog we had new years celebration where all the boarding kids went back to their families for a couple of days to celebrate with them and seeing as there was a few holidays at this time it was only a short week of teaching. We enjoyed new years at the school with a few of the kids that stayed behind as well as a couple of the past students who now study at university. So we had a bbq dinner then spent the night hanging out playing ping pong, watching a movie and of course counting down to 12. It was nice to be able to spend the time with the kids who were unable to see their families and have a fun night with them.
Last week we had a very busy week teaching reviewing all the content that we had taught over our time here and doing both speaking and written exams with the kids. Of course writing and printing the tests and marking 146 of them did take some time too! We were very pleased with the kids results though and were very happy with their efforts and how much they had learnt over our time here. We are particularly impressed with how their speaking has improved, especially a lot of the boarding kids who have been making an effort to try to speak to us everyday.
So with last week finishing up it is now time to pack up and clean up our area and to try to trim our luggage down as much as possible to make way for the few extra bits and pieces we have been given during our time here. On Sunday we were given a warm farewell and thanked for our time that we have been here which was very special and we are very thankful to God for the opportunity to come back and serve him here. A big thank you to everyone who has supported us also, both in prayer and financially and helped us make this mission trip possible. We will return to Australia at the end of the week and are looking forward to catching up with family and friends and eating Australian food again.
